About Me

Hello, my name is Christy Gardner! I am a Registered Dietitian in Miami, FL.

Health has always been an integral part of my life, as from a young age I competed in competitive track and field. As I grew older, I began to see how nutrition plays a vital role throughout the life cycles. I completed my undergraduate degree in dietetics and nutrition in 2015. After which I worked as a wellness coordinator promoting health to Medicare recipients and in 2017, began graduate school to further dive into the field of dietetics and nutrition.

On my spare time, I am usually running around Miami, chasing sunrises. I try to go on one “run-cation” a year to explore a new city with friends. Engaging with my community to promote health and wellness is important to me. I enjoy tending to my herb garden and experimenting in the kitchen.

Involvement

I have been an active member of various dietetic and nutrition associations at various levels including national to community organizations. I have been a member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics since May of 2012 to present. I have been an active member of the South Florida Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (formerly known as the Miami Academy of Dietetics and Nutrition) since 2017. I was a member of the Florida International University Associate Graduate Students in Dietetics and Nutrition (AGSDN) at the start of my graduate degree in 2017 to my graduation. While a member of the AGSDN, I held a leadership position as the External Coordinator. In this role I coordinated events with outside entities from the university. I used my network to acquire guest speakers for association meetings and organized a networking event with the local academy and the students. I created and oversaw fundraising events for the American Diabetes Association within and outside of the university.
